It all started on the 22nd of March 2020. No one had dared to even sneeze aloud for the whole day. All were waiting for that moment! That Thaali or Clapping moment! Count down started 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0! The entire housing society woke up as though they had come above the water in swimming pool after a challenge of holding breath under water! Such noise it turned out as a celebration. It was supposed to go for just nine minutes but after two minutes all of them started looking at each other and cheered as though it was Uthraayan. The Kite Festival! Banging the utensils louder than the other this became a balcony war! That was when many of the flat dwellers saw each other for the first time, leave alone meeting or greeting. Since then, the balcony has become a shouting area. Shouting in the sense that the were talking loud! There were various combinations of cross talking, as it seemed. Between husbands, wives, husband to other's wife, wife to other's husbands, children to children, etc. Those missing were only the youth. BALCONY STORY Hey that perfume you are wearing it's ESTÉE LAUDER BEAUTIFUL naa, arre i couldn't miss the floral scent, you know my husband got it for me last week. I was in no mood for a chat with Rakhi but she was there on the adjacent balcony where i had come to pick up my laundry. Yes yes i managed to say trying to avoid her. She was going on and you know he got me exactly the same lacy undergarments as yours, which i was trying to keep hidden in the pile of other clothes. Rohan, being bored of lockdown, came to his balcony every time he felt sort of depressed and lonely. There he would meet and chat with Disha, who had just returned from her internship abroad and come to live in the house next door, which otherwise remained deserted most of the year. She had her balcony right next to his, with just a common wall separating the two. They had become quite good friends and even some romance was blooming with each passing day, as they shared their joys and sorrows with each other... Balcony Story Mrs Banerjee is putting up clothes on a rack in the balcony. Akasha: Hello ma'am, I am Akasha your balcony neighbour. Mrs Banerjee looked up and tried to see, from where voice is coming. It was from the nearby building but not in the same complex she lives. Mrs Banerjee: Hello beta, I have never seen you before. Actually, we came here just before a week of this lockdown. Aksha: Yeah, I know this apartment was locked from months. And don't worry, nobody ever sees me. I am ok. Mrs Banerjee: Oh beta, so sorry to hear that. You can talk to me whenever you want. Don't feel lonely. Aksha: Thank you.
