It was some 15-16 years back I was mere a baby They decided to name me, what They told me, only that much I savvy. They thought & thought & thought But couldn't draw a conclusion Should I be named for my characters or My appearance; it's a chaotic confusion Some suggested an old-fashioned,some Showed their concord on a modern one Some participated only to disagree, & Some're even over the phone And finally they made the mind for A two-lettered name Coz someone with a two-lettered name That very year, had risen to name & fame No doubt they named me "SWETA" Pleasing to hear; easy to take Ambitious, I will say they had become Coz their social image was at stake. And lastly I would add, My name is Sweta; Sweta is my name & if Sweta is your name, Then we both have the same name. #napowrimo #storybehindname #yqbabachallenge

Hari Varma is my name And Varma is the surname Carried for quite a while As Royals though erstwhile Traditionally should I be named Ravi Varma, but can't be blamed They chose to put my name Hari, a God's name! As the Bard said, what is in a name? Also it's said, whatever your name, If called long enough by one and all It becomes unique better than all Then came the change, made by my mate Varmaji the name, was destined to set My choice is simple and that is 'Hari Varma', But some call me Hari, some just Varma, Some liked Varmaji, which I too felt easy Not 'cause of the ji but it sounded easy "What is in a name? My Unique name It's a story of a unique named girl, Who was born in a small town in Chhattisgarh. When it was time to give her a name, Her father kept delaying it to find her a rare name. One lucky day, overheard by some kids play. Where they addressed a girl,which was special in a way. It etched into her father's mind and decided to call, His lil girl 'Simpa' whose meaning wasn't known at all. The story doesn't end here & over the years Simpa was asked innumerous times, the meaning of her. She had no other option but to shrug off the question, Surprisingly, it was nowhere found in Google. Of late, the name was finally invented, And one of her friends stumbled upon it on internet. A heavy shower, and my family making their way through it, It all seemed that the Goddess of Rain bestowed her power... With gleaming eyes, My sister awaited for her angel's arrival, She was then given a chance to give me a name sweet and nice... Amidst the rain and thunder, There came a moment, When I embraced the world with wonder... It seems that seeing her excitement, I smiled at her, And looking out of the window she named me 'Varshini', Appreciating the name, how happy my relatives were ! Working amidst the snow-capped mountains and deep valleys, My dad smiled on the thought of a cute daughter, He was then reminded of the responsibility of all daddies... 'Varshini !' - my mother calls and I run hearing my name, And everytime I hear the raindrops pitter-pattering on my roof, I am reminded of that story with which is associated my identity - my name... between my birth year and now i have flown from one name to another carrying the essence and fragrance of each name along with me out of love, i was named love, Preeti but people called me kali instead for I was a dark chocolate flavoured kid who was cooked for long in the furnace perhaps, I was given milk baths and rolled over powdered sugar for I changed from bournville to milkybar and begun to resemble my mother i got admitted to school as Simmi for my father wanted a different name for me that made people often wonder whether i was Hindu, Punjabi or Muslim but definitely not a tamil name Simmi is so when i got married my in laws preferred to call me Preethi with a 'h' in it but he calls me simmi and has accepted my name as it is. #yqbaba #birthyear #napowrimo #napowrimoday21 #poemtime #storybehindname
