White I am not just a soldier But a father, A son, And also a husband. I fight not only for my country But for my family, For their safety And their future. I may wear the uniform And carry a gun, But inside this hardened shell Beats a heart filled with love. I long for the day When I can hold my children And kiss my wife Without the weight of war on my shoulders. But until that day comes, I will continue to fight, To protect and defend Those whom I hold dear.
